Crowns & Bridges

Dental crowns and bridges are fixed prosthetic devices that are cemented(non-removable) onto existing teeth or implants.

What Are Dental Crowns?

Crowns are a tooth-shaped cap that is cemented over the tooth.  This is used to strengthen and protect the tooth that was decayed or damaged.  Crowns can also be placed on top of an implant to provide a tooth-like shape and structure for function.

Crowns can be used for all of the following:

  • To protect a weak tooth from fracturing
  • To restore a fractured tooth
  • To attach a bridge
  • To cover a dental implant
  • To cover a discolored or poorly shaped tooth
  • To cover a tooth that has had root canal treatment

Bridges

Dental bridges are used to cover gaps left by missing teeth.  Upon removal, gaps left unattended to eventually cause the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into the empty spaces.  This usually leads to an imbalance bite, gum disease, and TMJ disorders.

Bridges are made up of two crowns, one on each tooth on both side of the gap.  Click on the videos below for more
